A beautiful example of the Universal Geneve Tri-Compax reference 22502 with a stunning original dial and serviced calibre 287 movement. The is one of our favourite vintage chronographs.
The Universal Geneve Tri-Compax was originally launched in 1944 at the Basel Watch Fair tomarkthe brand's 50th anniversary. The namerefers to the three complications: moonphase, calendar and chronograph which was a major achievementat the time of its release.
This particular example is the reference22502 which features a large 37mm case and is powered by the manual wind 287 movement. The pushers on the right of the case start, stop and reset the chronograph. On the left-hand side, you'll find three recessed pushers which, from top to bottom control the month, moonphase and date.
The dial is original and features pleasing even patina. The hands have previously been relumed but are in excellent condition. The case remains in good condition. Signs of a previous repair to the back of the case at the lower right lug. The movement has also been fully serviced and is in good working order.
With Universal Geneve seeing increasing interest in recent years, prices of 's continue to see strong increases, something we believe is set to continue in the years to come.
This is a great time to purchase a fantastic example of an iconic watch of its era!
